Studio / Design
Design
Designing the worlds around the work. The Studio’s software needs interfaces, its stories need characters and skies, and its measurements need to be readable — design is where all three become one practice.
How design connects the work
The clearest demonstration is Wings & Prayers: characters created for a game grew into a world, the world asked for stories and songs, the songs needed mastering, and the mastering needed an engine. Design is the thread that keeps it one thing.

01
Visual systems
The characters, worlds and images the Studio’s stories live in.

Character design
One little blue pilot, drawn as 28 badge birds — each the same character living out a different moment — plus 21 pilot avatars, all live in the released game.

World building
One world spanning a released game, a reference-mastered album and a written six-scene storybook script. The recurring motifs — goggles, the green hill, wheels down — carry across all of it.

Illustration
Storyboards and shot-by-shot treatments drawn for the cinematics; the PNG frame set is prepped and version-controlled. Blocked on recorded audio, and says so.
- Shipped
Motion
In-app cinematics — the Black Box badge reveal, the Flock Remembers aviary — and this site’s own motion system: three named easings, four durations, reduced-motion safe everywhere.
02
Product design
Interfaces and systems for the Studio’s own software.
- Shipped
Interfaces
The Wings & Prayers game, released at v1.3.1 — a five-panel category wheel, a bank-or-push decision loop, and a logbook that remembers you by name.
- Shipped
Design systems
This site’s token system: one source of truth for colour, type, space and motion, with every documented contrast ratio verified by a unit test rather than a comment.
- Shipped
Interaction
The A/B mastering instrument — two versions of a real record behind one transport, level-matching by measured loudness, keyboard-first and reduced-motion safe.
- Shipped
Data visualization
Measurement made readable: the case study’s before/after loudness tables, and WPAudio Engine’s own HTML, JSON and CSV engineering reports.

Experiments
Studies with no product attached — type, generative images, ways of seeing sound. None are published yet, and this page will not pretend otherwise.

When a study exists it will appear here first — and if it grows up, it graduates through JetLabs like everything else.
