Most of the work was deleting

At the end of September 2026 we tidied wpagency.space, the non-commercial lab site of WPAgency.xyz. Most of the work took things out, and the site is faster, more private and clearer about what it is because of it.

wpagency.space is a small site with a narrow job. In its own words it is “a non-commercial site: an interactive web history timeline and small browser experiments, built as a WPAgency.xyz project. Nothing is sold here, and no client work is done through it.” WPAgency.xyz is the agency, WPAgency Studio is its creative research and product arm, and .space is the lab where an idea is tried before it reaches either.

At the end of September 2026 we gave the lab a thorough tidy. Looking back at it, what stands out is how little we added. Most of the work was deleting.

It opens straight away

The homepage used to open behind a full-screen loading screen, and its heading faded in after that. Neither was hiding anything slow: the page was ready underneath. Both are gone, so what you see is there the moment the page paints, and it stays there even with JavaScript switched off.

The heaviest part of the site, a 3D journey through the history of the web, now waits to be asked for. It loads when you press “Begin the Journey”, and until then a first visit downloads about 14 KB of script instead of about 330 KB.

The wpagency.space homepage on a black starfield: the heading Journey Through Web History, the line 22 moments in web history, each paired with a moment in space, a paragraph describing the timeline from ARPANET in 1969 to 2025, and a green Begin the Journey button.

The homepage on 30 September 2026, as it first appears. The 3D journey loads only when “Begin the Journey” is pressed.

Taking things out left a lab held to the same bar as any site we launch. On 30 September 2026, Google’s PageSpeed Insights scored it 100 for performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO, on mobile and on desktop alike.

A wpagency.space card headed Experimental ground. Production standards. It reads: wpagency.space is a lightweight experimental site, built with the same care. It scores 100 across Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO on both mobile and desktop. Two panels, Desktop Scores and Mobile Scores, each show 100 for Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO, and 3 of 3 for Agentic Browsing, beside the site's homepage, Journey Through Web History, on a laptop and a phone.

It keeps to itself

A lab that sells nothing has no reason to follow its visitors around. The site no longer runs analytics, its fonts come from its own server, and a visit to wpagency.space involves no other company’s servers but its host. It sets no cookies. Two small preferences, whether the sound is muted and a game’s high score, stay in your own browser.

That made the legal side short. Four legal pages, written for a business the site is not, became one plain privacy page that says exactly the above.

The privacy page of wpagency.space in green type on black. Under About this site, it describes wpagency.space as a non-commercial site built as a WPAgency.xyz project. Under What is collected, it says the site is hosted by Netlify and makes no requests to other services. Under Cookies and browser storage, it says the site sets no cookies and two features save a small value in the browser's local storage.

One short privacy page, in place of four.

It says only what it can back up

Over the years the site had picked up the kind of big round numbers and slogans agency sites collect. We could not point to a record behind them, so they came out, rather than being softened into vaguer versions of the same claim. What the site says about the agency now comes from a short list of facts we can stand behind: the work began in May 2009, and the WPAgency.xyz name launched in 2022.

It is clear about who is who

The last change was about names. The site now has a short section on the sites that belong together, WPAgency.xyz, the agency, WPAgency Studio, the studio, and The Little Blue Pilot, a Studio project, and every page that mentions them describes them the same way. The header also holds still now, instead of moving under the pointer and shrinking as the page scrolls.

We wrote these standards down, and the site checks itself against them before every release, so the tidy stays tidy.

Where to go next
